Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement applies to www.eastgoscote-pc.gov.uk

This website is run by East Goscote Parish Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • some document attachments are not clearly written
  • some graphics and document attachments have poor colour contrast
  • some images do not have good alternative text
  • some buttons are not correctly identified
  • some forms are not hosted on an accessible platform
  • some error messages are not clearly associated with form controls

We endeavour to identify content that is not accessible and rectify this as soon as possible.

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). Information about this website’s accessibility

East Goscote Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

The website was created by the AppOffice.com and uses WordPress.

Compliance status

The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to ‘the exemptions’ listed below.

  1. Disproportionate burden

We consider that the costs to conduct a full accessibility audit on this site represent a disproportionate burden to the organisation in terms of cost.

We have therefore had to conduct a basic accessibility check as advised on GOV.UK , as part of our accessibility audit and used the free resources and tools that are available.

We will make another assessment when the supplier contract is up for renewal, likely to be August 2026.

  • Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents:

  • The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 14th October 2024. It was last reviewed on 13th October 2025.

This website was last tested on 13th October 2025 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.

The test was carried out by the Parish Council. The most viewed pages were tested using automated testing tools.

We do not have the technical expertise in-house to conduct a full audit, and we do not have the resources to get a third-party to conduct a full audit.
