Update on Dog Waste Bins

Posted in News & Updates | Last Upated: on 07/05/2026

Dear Residents,

The Parish Council recently faced an unexpected issue regarding the disposal of dog waste and, as a result, has had to close several of the red dog waste bins across the village. This decision was necessary because our current waste contractor no longer allows dog waste into their bin. The alternative service available would have resulted in additional costs of approximately £3,000 per year, which could not be justified.

We understand that this news may be disappointing. Please rest assured that the Parish Council is actively exploring alternative arrangements. However, we remain under contract with Biffa until June 2026.

To help manage the situation, six red dog waste bins have been removed.

East Goscote currently has a total of 44 bins available for waste disposal, comprising:
 28 Charnwood black bins
11 Parish bins located on Parish land and in our parks
5 remaining red dog waste bins situated on the playing fields, in the village centre, and on Lilac Way

Please remember that dog waste can be disposed of in any of the 44 available bins throughout the village, as well as in your own household black bin.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work towards appointing a new contractor from June 2026. Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep East Goscote clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone.

Warm regards,
East Goscote Parish Council
