Trees / Hedges

East Goscote Parish Council has appointed Cllr Peberdy as Tree Warden. In conjunction with Leicestershire County Council, Cllr Peberdy is currently undertaking various training courses and establishing himself in the role.

Please report any concerns regarding trees to the Parish Office, and these will then be checked by the Tree Warden or reported to the County Council for further investigation.

As part of his work as Tree Warden, Cllr Peberdy has been instrumental in establishing an orchard at Broomfield Primary School thanks to a donation of fruit trees from Leicestershire County Council, and planting additional hedge whips throughout the Jubilee Playing Fields hedgerow as part of the Woodland Trust’s Free Trees Scheme, following recommendations in the Wildlife Audit to thicken the hedgerow and leaving it uncut in November 2024.

Over the years many trees have been planted throughout the village, including on the Mound as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy, an initiative to celebrate the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 and the Parish Council has appointed a volunteer to look after the trees in this area.
