In partnership with LLR Prepared, East Goscote Parish Council has formed a Community Resilience Group, including Councillors and Members of the Public.

The Community Response Plan was approved by the Parish Council at its meeting on 15th December 2025: Link below.

In the event of an emergency, the Parish Council’s Community Resilience Group will be on hand to support where possible and if needed can be contacted via the Parish Office on 0116 260 2202.

The Red Cross has lots of advice as to what to do in an emergency such as flooding, power cuts and winter weather: Prepare for emergencies | British Red Cross

Charnwood Borough Council

The borough council only stocks an extremely limited number of sandbags and does not have a statutory duty to provide them.

The small number of sandbags the Council have will be issued to:

  • protect life, critical infrastructure and buildings, eg hospitals and substations
  • protect elderly, disabled and vulnerable residents
  • support the emergency services

It’s also worth noting that sandbags only provide limited protection against flooding and are most effective before flooding takes place.

Therefore, if residents know their property is prone to flooding, they may want to consider investing in other flood defence products. Blue Pages is the UK’s leading independent flood directory which is run by the National Flood Forum charity.

The borough council has useful information on their website: Flooding – Charnwood Borough Council
